Sharing some thoughts I've been mulling over lately about empathy in design - seemed like a topic that might spark some interesting discussions here! So, what if you’re a digital nomad designing an app for the good ol' midwestern family, or a non-gamer working on a game UI, or a sighted person building a touch interface for the blind? Empathy really is the backbone of product design, but how do we cultivate it when the users we’re trying to understand feel like they’re from another world? I've been pondering this question a lot lately and I'd love to hear your thoughts - what are some creative ways you’ve found to build empathy in these challenging design scenarios? Share your experiences and let's help each other level up our empathy game! -Your friendly neighborhood UX-er

i remember a project where we were designing an app's interface. the client wanted it to be sleek and modern with minimalistic design principles in mind - clean lines, neutral colors, simple typography… seemed straightforward enough until they threw us for a loop by requesting 50+ customizable widget options within this streamlined aesthetic! it took countless iterations of prototyping & user testing to strike the right balance between complexity and simplicity. ultimately we found success with well-organized menus, intuitive interactions, clear labels… but wow was it a challenge at first
