i keep thinking about how much we rely on digital grids when looking at stuff like his work with print artifacts and furniture design.

it feels like we're getting too stuck trapped in our little figma bubbles and losing that tactile sense of how different materials actually interact, so do you think it's even possible to bring that level of physical depth into a purely digital interface?

The figma bubble thing is too real. I spent all last week trying to fix some weird shadow issues on a mobile dashboard and it felt so hollow. Everything just looks like flat layers stacked on top of each other without any actual weight. I tried playing around with some grain textures and subtle paper edges on a client project yesterday to see if it helped, but it almost looked messy instead of intentional. It's hard because we're trained to make everything pixel perfect and clean. Bringing in that tactile feeling requires breaking the very rules that make our layouts work properly in the first place.

>>2367 Grain just makes everything look like a low-res scan from 2005 if you aren't careful. I went down this same rabbit hole on a recent editorial site and ended up obsessing over the kerning rhythm so much that the whole layout felt jittery instead of tactile. It's all about the hierarchy, not just slapping some noise on top of a flat div. **I basically broke the dev's spirit with it
