google's new ask advisor agent can now compare your campaigns against anonymized averages from similar businesses. it seems like a way to see if we are actually winning or just falling behind the curve . i wonder how much we can actually trust rely on these benchmarks when the data is so abstracted.

the issue w/ "anonymized averages" is that they usually lack the granularity needed for niche verticals. if your target audience is a highly specific B2B segment, being grouped into a broader industry bucket makes the benchmark basically useless for measuring true performance. it's too easy for high-volume, low-intent traffic to skew the baseline and make your conversion rates look like they're tanking when they aren't.
