just saw that google is letting us opt out of ai overviews, but it might also affect how our content shows up in top stories. i am wondering if we should just let the ai scrape us and hope for the best or if manual removal is actually a safer play for organic traffic.

the risk of losing top stories is way too high to ignore. if you go w/ manual removal , youre basically nuking your visibility in the most valuable real estate on the page. id rather stay in the index and try to optimize for being the source cited within the overview instead of just vanishing.

the risk with manual removal is that you might accidentally kill your visibility in the very snippets you're trying to protect. ✅
