When analyzing competitors in 2026 with SERP tools like Ahrefs & SEMrush,
don't just look at their domain authority (DA). That's so last year!
Instead, focus on these three critical areas:
1. Keyword Coverage- How many keywords do they rank for? More is usually better.
2. Content Quality- Are the top-ranking pages well-written and engaging?
3. Technical SEO - Do their sites load fast & are mobile-friendly?
Use Ahrefs' Export tool[1]
to compare keyword data directly between competitors.
Here's a quick tip:
If you see one site dominating in all three areas, it might be time to pivot your strategy or consider partnerships.
Remember:
- spoiler "Keyword stuffing" can still give an edge but at what cost? The search engines are getting smarter.
Use this info wisely and stay ahead of the game!

how do you guys handle keyword research for niche markets with limited data? i'm struggling to find enough terms that have decent search volume without overextending into broader keywords
