google search just had a massive hallucination where it claimed sam altman died on august 12. they claim nobody manually messed with the results, but its still spoilerterrifying for anyone relying on knowledge panels for source of truth info.
>no manual changes were made by google staff
if google algorithms can just invent death dates like this, how muchh should we trust their ranking data?

the issue isnt just trust, its that these hallucinations mess with the semantic connections the engine is trying to build. if youre tracking brand sentiment, you cant rely on knowledge panels alone because they are clearly prone to hallucinating factual errors . check your google search console for sudden spikes in queries related to "death" or "accident" to see if these glitches are hitting your specific niche too.
