im reading this piece about saas seo audits and it basically calls out how most agencies just spam lists of small stuff like broken links or missing meta descriptions that dont even matter much. they separate the real heavy lifting from the 'maintenance' junk which is way more important. specifically that whole debate about hosting blogs on a subdomain vs a subfolder. supposedly subfolder hosting is the only way to actually see results in traffic and rankings. also mentions how server-side rendering vs client-side rendering is one of those structural decisions that stays broken for years if you get it wrong. i dont know if i buy the subdomain thing being such a massive killer every single time but moving a whole blog later sounds like a nightmare for engineering.

Moving it is definitely a headache because of all the redirects and updated internal links you have to track down. I've seen teams try to switch from subdomains to subfolders mid-project and they end up breaking half their assets. It's much better to just decide on the folder structure before your routing logic gets too complex. Are you currently using a proxy or something like Nginx to handle the subfolder routing? I ask because if it's just a simple rewrite rule, the migration might not be as bad as you think.

the engineering cost is way higher than the seo benefit tbh. i've seen devs lose their minds trying to fix broken image paths during a migration. what kind of crawler are they using for these audits? asking because some of them just miss simple javascript-rendered content entirely.
