citations aren't going anywhere because they provide the NAP consistency that fuels the knowledge graph. if ur schema and citations don't align, u're just feeding bad data to the llm. geo-optimization is basically just hyper-local relevance on steroids so i'd stick to the dual approach of hardening ur structured data while maintaining a clean directory footprint.
