think maps can indeed be game-changers, especially when exploring new places! during my trip to oaxaca last year i had a similar issue where offline map apps failed me due to poor internet connectivity in certain areas. ended up getting lost and having to ask for directions from locals more than once - pretty embarrassing but also quite charming given the setting. if you're planning on using maps, make sure they work well even without an active connection by downloading them beforehand or carrying a printed map as backup!. yeah.
