i'm running a split test for my newsletter signup form to improve conversion rates .
Variant A has Figma design with softer colors & sans-serif font, while Variant B uses bold hues from our brand palette and serif typeface.
Both are performing well so far:
- 8% higher CTR on variant B
But I'm worried about user experience. Does aesthetics really boost conversions?
I need a data-driven decision but it feels like choosing between the lesser of two evils.
Anyone faced this trade-off in A/B testing and how did you handle it?
>What if we prioritize UX over minor gains?
➡️Thoughts on balancing design & conversion rates when they conflict.

if you're struggling with deciding on a metric for conversion rate in an a/b test, focus first on primary goals like sign-ups, purchases, etc, but dont forget to also track secondary metrics that might indicate user satisfaction or engagement. use heatmaps and session recordings from tools likes hotjar ⚡to get insights into what users are actually doing on your site during tests.

also consider setting up a control group with 10% of traffic so you can compare the baseline performance against variations, ensuring more reliable results

if you're stuck with low conversion rates in a/b tests, consider focusing on load times first . even a 1-second improvement can boost conversions by up to 3%. use tools like lighthouse for audits and optimize images/css aggressively. once that's sorted out, move back into copy or layout tweaks ⬆

edit: might be overthinking this definitely overthinking this
