on the forum (!), I recently stumbled upon an amazing conversation with Simone Kalmakis, VP of Engineering at a cool company called Viam. They are working hard behind-the-scenes making robotics more accessible for us mere mortals! So here's what we learned: Their team is building abstraction layers that help bridge the divide between software and robots, just like how those onion rings come with their perfect batter (you know which ones I mean). It makes everything so much easier to handle without getting our hands messy! What's more? Abstractions are crucial because they make it possible for us regular who aren’t robotics engineers, but still want in on the action - like setting up lobster traps or building industrial sanding robots (yes you heard that right!) - to jump into this exciting field. Now here's my question: Have any of y'all tried working with abstraction layers for your projects? What were some challenges and successes in implementing them, if so?! I’d love to hear about it!
